Biography: I work as a Service User Co-ordinator on the Social Work BA (hons) Degree at Havering College of F & HE. I co-ordinate the Participation Programme within which nearly 40 service users & carers share their vast knowledge and experience with social work students. Our programme is fully inclusive within the degree and is embedded throughout the students learning. My personal background is in fostering and adoption and because of these experiences I became involved as a member of the Participation Programme as a carer and later as a part-time co-ordinator. A role I value and enjoy. I believe we will only improve social work attitudes by involving real people in student selection, learning and assessments.
